ith the rain gods showering their blessings upon us by turning the dry brownish barren land into a green moist carpet all around, every nook and corner looks absolutely breathtaking in this season, be it the plains or Satpura of Madhya Pradesh, hills of Northern India or the peninsular plateau. 

One prominent geographical feature which stands out from the rest is the Western Ghats located on the West coast of India.

Western ghats are the mountainous regions running parallel to West Coast from Gujarat till Kerala. Of the various mesmerising sections of Western Ghats one is the Sahyadaris ( located in Maharashtra).


Imagine you are in Mumbai or Pune and after doing week long hard work at your job, you finally got a weekend. After working for days everyone would love to go out and relax a little to again recharge their lives. There isn't a better place then Mumbai or Pune where you could go on a day or a two fay trips to numerous locations.

I would be sharing you the locations I would have gone to if ever given a chance.

1. Matheran



Known as the smallest hillstation yet one of the prime locations for the tourists. Matheran is one of the highest wettest place of India and being crowned by this feat Matheran exhibits true colours of nature with the onset of monsoon in the form of panoramic vistas and plunged waterfalls. If you are a nature lover and someone who likes to trek then my friend this is the ultimate place for you.

it is also connected with Neral (21 km long) through the toy train and that railway track is also used for trekking.

2. Mahabaleshwar






touted as the wettest place on Earth in 2019 this place is an automatic choice to visit to therefore it comes as no surprise that Mahabaleshwar is often referred to as “Queen of the Hill Stations”. Popular with families and couples, the stunning views of the plains and hills covered with foliage, make this one of the most popular monsoon holiday spots.

Distance from Pune: 120 kms




3. Panchgani





As the name suggests, Panchgani is the place of five hills – one of the prime attractions of the popular place in Satara district. The city with its exciting viewpoints, temples, lakes, and gorgeous water bodies gets better with the onset of monsoon, which can be seen in the lovely breathtaking views around. It is one of the best places to visit in rainy season in Maharashtra

4. Lonavala






Lonavala is one of the most beautiful places in Maharashtra. But, if you want to witness its true beauty, then visit Lonavala in the monsoon season. 7. Bhimashankar
